Four days of voting

One other thing that EU member states could not agree on is a common election day. Voters across Europe will vote over four days between today Thursday and this coming Sunday. Most countries will vote on Sunday but polling day in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom is traditionally on a Thursday. Friday is election day in Ireland while Czechs vote on Friday and Saturday. The first results will only be announced when the last voting booths close on Sunday at 10pm our time. Malta, which votes on Saturday like Latvia, Cyprus and Slovakia, is known to have a slow counting process but the slowest country is in fact Portugal which takes ten days before the official results are announced.
