Heartbreak at the Manoel

Marie and Dina write about a recent disappointment at the Manoel Theatre. From Laetitia's world:

Yesterday evening me, my family and Dina's family were all excited and looking forward to a day out to the theatre where a very sweet musical about a chess pawn was being shown. Gedeon, my 9 year old, especially, was sooo looking forward to it as he has started to learn how to play chess (thanks to our local schools for the incentive) and it was mainly as a surprise for him that we were all going. As well as that,it was our first time to the theatre as the kids are old enough to enjoy it and so I thought "what a great way to enjoy a Sunday afternoon!!!"

Well, I thought wrong didn't I, because we got there 45mins early (which is a big thing for me as I'm always running late) so we sure didn't miss any of it, went in for a coffee at the theatre's coffee shop where we were "pleasantly" shocked by the waitress telling us that the show had been cancelled!!! AND cancelled without any previous notice and their only pathetic excuse was that there wasn't a large number of people there to see it! So, me and four other families were sent away with only as much as an apology, our money duly refunded and after some persuasion on our part a complimentary ticket for the next children's production. But unfortunately, all that doesn't change the huge disappointment we all felt, and the forlorn look on my son's face was heartbreaking!
