An Assyrian view

Emil Brikha, who blogs at colourful words in black and white, discusses the depth, beauty and detail of Malta:

I’ve had a few of those moments in my life but lately I find myself wanting to drop to my knees in praise of… I don’t know, the universe? There is no longer the tiniest doubt in my mind that moving here was a stroke of genius. I knew from the start that it would be a good idea, but yesterday when I was visiting the Blue Grotto in Malta and these past days where I’ve done some awesome sightseeing… I’m in complete and utter amazement of how something so perfect could have been right under my nose, only 4 hours away from Stockholm.

I kept whispering, saying, thinking, and screaming out loud: I LIVE HERE! My father has seen many places around the world and he is equally impressed, not only by the beauty of the island but also for how much it reminds him of “the old country”, the ancient fallen Assyria. I told a friend yesterday that if one would kidnap an Assyrian grandmother, drug her and let her wake up in Malta she would run out in the streets screaming: Shlama, pshena! Don’t believe me? Check out this picture of Nineveh Plains (click the link) and compare it to the one you see below, which I have taken. To tease your senses even more… continue looking at yet another awesome image gallery.
