Malta is becoming more popular as a retirement destination, says the Daily Mail:

According to the Daily Mail, the former British colony is proving to be especially appealing to people from the UK who are looking to settle overseas. This was said to be largely because it offers attractions such as good transport links with the rest of the world and a favourable tax regime.

However, lifestyle considerations such as its good weather and natural beauty were said to be equally tempting to foreign nationals. Commenting on the island, the Daily Mail said: "Malta is firmly rooted in the affections of Britons seeking to retire overseas."

The newspaper added that although the country is strongly connected with the UK, its property market has been "curiously untapped". Malta recently strengthened its international connections by adopting the single European currency on New Year's Day 2008...
