Blogs in real life

Anna Abela interviews Sandro Vella about blogging, from Insite:
..Every blogger is my favourite. For as long as he or she doesn’t hide behind an editorial line and advertisements and retains the original scope of the blog concerned. The talent of the artist is not the talent itself but the utilization of one’s poverty so as to express that talent. The talent of a blogger is that of one who succeeds in expressing himself within the limited time allotted after a log day’s work, ready to face the arguments posed by his readers. My favourite blogger is he who is capable of changing opinion after the readers clearly show him that he is mistaken.

My favourite blogger begins from a blog about recipe on how to make a vegetable soup, continues with a blog about how a person manages to draw a smile because she spends time playing with her pet cat, a blog where an artist shows his work and lets the world know how much he loves his wife through his paintings, blogs showing us students outlining the stress endured throughout their studies and how this effects their social lives as well as their love lives, and also a blog where a man loses patience with Malta and emigrates to Australia and so spends several months describing his everyday experiences.

There also exists a Maltese blog about animal rights, the Bertu! cartoons, Toni Sant's music reviews. Another about the experiences and thoughts of readers while they are riding the bus, blogs by non-Maltese individuals who live in Malta and offer their views about Malta. They are like the tourists of blogs. Internationally there is a Californian blogger from Berkeley called Ari Derfel who, through his experiences and his blog, showed the world that waste need not be thrown away as somehow it can all be recycled. And these are the small things that make for a virtual blogosphere and politics in real life...
