Milan frenzy

AC Milan have sparked a frenzy among their Maltese supporters after beginning their eight-day training camp on the island on Wednesday, writes Domenic Aquilina in UEFA.com:

Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti warmed up several members of his squad on the sand of Malta's Golden Bay, with Andrea Pirlo and Kakà among those taking part, though the Brazilian limped off early holding his groin and was absent when the full party took part in an afternoon session at the Ta' Qali training grounds. Ancelotti told uefa.com: "I am glad our team is in Malta for this eight-day training camp. I feel this is an ideal location to prepare for our forthcoming Serie A commitments and the UEFA Champions League encounter against Celtic FC. I would like to thank Maltese club Birkirkara FC for giving us this opportunity and for their hospitality. I must also say Malta has the largest Milan supporters' club around."

..His team will travel to Italy on Saturday for the annual Torneo Silvio Berlusconi against Juventus that evening before a return to Malta the next afternoon. Birkirkara chairman Victor Zammit, whose team meet Milan in a friendly on Tuesday, said: "I hope Milan will have a pleasant stay on our lovely island and that the training camp will produce the desired results for them."
