Spielberg's Gamble in Malta
Just as his new release War of the Worlds was hitting cinemas worldwide, director Steven Spielberg was already in Malta working on his next film, a controversial fact-based terrorism drama that recounts the 'Black September' massacre of Israeli athletes by Palestinian terrorists at the 1972 Munich Olympics. An Israeli squad of Mossad agents is sent to avenge the crime. Both Reuters and The New York Times have published reports about the film, which stars Eric Bana, Daniel Craig, Geoffrey Rush, Mathieu Kassovitz, Hanns Zischler and Ciaran Hinds. Filming will take place in Malta, Budapest and New York for a December 23rd release by Universal Pictures.
